Step over to the Dark Side

I have always found myself drawn to the melancholic and unsettling. Peering into strange parallel worlds of people places and moments in time that try as we might, will always remain out of our reach.

I see my work as part of a long Northern European Romantic tradition. From the sacred woods of Bocklin and Friedrich, to the deeply disturbing work and self portraits of Edvard Munch. I deal with the uncanny and all that takes us from our comfort zone. The art of a cold and wet climate where sheltering from the elements, behind closed doors, we leave ourselves too much time for contemplation and let our minds wonder into the realms of our own fears and neuroses.
